Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Voxtale (“we”, “us”) collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers voxtale.live and the Voxtale app at app.voxtale.live. Voxtale is for adults 18 and over.

What we collect

• Email address, to create your account and sign you in.
• Account and billing records: your plan, credit balance, purchase and credit history, and a record of the auto-renewal consent you gave (the time and the wording shown). Card details are handled by Paddle; we never see them.
• Story text you paste, which we use only to make your audio (see below).
• Story records: for each story, its title, style, credit cost, status, and the time you confirmed you have the right to use the text. The record does not include the story text.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and request times in server logs, kept for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting, and a random device ID that your browser sends with each request and that we record with each story you create.

How story text is used and kept

Story text is sent to AI providers only to create your audio: Google (Gemini) writes the script and sound plan, xAI reviews it, and ElevenLabs creates the voices and sounds. If a provider is unavailable we may use Together AI as a backup writer. Each provider handles the text under its own terms and privacy policy. We delete your story text from our servers as soon as your audio is finished, or if the job fails, and we use it for nothing else.

Where your audio lives

Finished audio is saved on your own device (in your browser’s storage) so it plays offline. We also keep temporary copies on our server, including the individual voice clips used to build the audio and their word-timing files, for up to 30 days so you can download it again if the first download fails, then delete them automatically. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, stories saved only on that device are lost, and some browsers remove stored data for sites you have not opened in a while.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use one cookie, vx_session, which keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary, is not readable by scripts, and lasts up to 90 days or until you sign out. The app stores your library, a device ID and your current job in your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB. We use no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies or pixels, and this website loads no third-party scripts. When you open checkout in the app, Paddle’s scripts load from paddle.com and Paddle may set its own cookies; see Paddle’s privacy notice.

Who else handles your data

• Paddle, our merchant of record: payment, tax and receipts. Paddle is the seller and handles your payment details under its own privacy notice.
• Google, xAI, ElevenLabs and Together AI: AI processing of story text, as described above.
• Resend: delivers sign-in emails (it receives your email address).
• Amazon Web Services: hosts our servers in the United States.
• Cloudflare: delivers this website and the app, and protects them from abuse (it sees your IP address).

These providers process data to serve us, under their own terms. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

No sale of data, no ads

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted ads.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other US states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what we collect and how we use it, to get a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, and to not be treated differently for using these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of.

How to use your rights. In the app, go to Account and choose Download my data or Delete my account. You can also email help@voxtale.live from the address on your account so we can verify it is you. We respond within 45 days, and may extend that once by another 45 days if we tell you why. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission. If we decline a request, you can reply to appeal, and you may also contact your state attorney general.

What we collected in the past 12 months, and why. Identifiers (email address, IP address, device ID) to run your account and keep it secure. Commercial information (plan, credits, purchases) to provide and bill for the service. Internet activity (server logs) for security. User content (story text) only to make your audio. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, so please do not put it in your stories.

How long we keep it. Account and story records until you delete your account. Story text until your audio is finished. Temporary server copies of audio, voice clips and timing files for up to 30 days. Nightly backups of our database and story records (never story text from a finished story) for up to 14 days. Server logs for up to 30 days. When you delete your account, we erase your account, sign-in, story records, audio and credit history, and keep only an anonymous payment-processor customer ID, the deletion date, and an anonymous copy of your auto-renewal consent record (no email) for three years, as California law requires, so we can handle refunds and disputes. Any temporary voice clips still on our servers, and backups, expire automatically within 30 days. Paddle keeps its own transaction records as the tax and accounting laws require.

Children

Voxtale is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and accounts cannot be created by anyone under 18. Please do not enter personal information about children in your stories. If you believe a child has given us data, email help@voxtale.live and we will delete it.

Security and changes

We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections, hashed sign-in codes and per-account access to your stories, but no system is perfectly secure. If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you by email.
